A birds-eye view of Niagara Falls atop the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel was a breathtaking experience that left me awestruck and reminded of my humble mortality. What better time to be reminded of fragile existence than when dangling by a rope from the top of the tallest hotel in the area?

Artpark & Company celebrated 40 years with the "Artpark Opening Night 1974 Anniversary Concert." The Mainstage Theater event was a recreation of the program that was presented on the performing arts venue's first night, and featured JoAnn Falletta conducting the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Electricity gradually returned Saturday afternoon and evening to the homes of National Grid customers in Niagara County that were dark following Friday's storm.
As of 9:30 p.m., less than 1,000 homes were waiting to receive electricity. Just 12 hours earlier, more than 5,000 homes in Lewiston alone were without power. National Grid reported that, at the storm's peak, about 75,000 customers in upstate New York were left in the dark. About 28,500 customers were in the Western New York region - primarily in Erie and Niagara counties.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston approved a development plan for 765 Fairchild Place, site of the former Fairchild Manor, at Monday's monthly board meeting. Goldin Management, a Brooklyn-based property management firm, recently purchased the $1.66-million, almost 1.6-acre property and will convert it into 24 condominium units.

News broke Sunday that the Village of Lewiston created a petition seeking support for restoration of the historic Frontier House. Throughout this week, residents visiting the mayor's office in the Red Brick Municipal Building have been encouraged to sign the document. To date, more than 500 have obliged. In doing so, they asked one question: What's going on with the Frontier House?
