The Como Deli on Center Street reopened to customers on Monday. The Village of Lewiston eatery had been closed since early spring, when "New York State on PAUSE" was enacted to slow the coronavirus spread.

Lewiston-Porter has submitted its reopening plan to the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The reopening plan provides for in-person instruction, remote learning, and a hybrid of the two approaches as required by NYSED. At issue here is concern over a site plan application submitted by Niagara Properties - EnSol Inc. - of Niagara Falls. The company has been working with the town's Planning Board and Environmental Commission over past months and wishes to create a soil recycling center and composting facility on some 10 acres of land it owns on the north side of the 1100 block of Pletcher Road.

Donning hard hats and shovels, local officials joined administrators from the Niagara County SPCA for a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, as the organization gets set to begin construction on a $1.5 million state-of-the-art surgical suite. The end result will be a 2,000-square-foot facility complete with an X-ray room, which the SPCA said it's never had before.
