The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC on Thursday announced the 94th Oscars ceremony will move to Sunday, March 27, 2022. The show, which will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, was originally scheduled for Feb. 27.

The Division of Consumer Protection and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) are alerting New Yorkers of all ages of the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike. A new CDC report revealed bicycle-related deaths nationally increased between 2009 and 2018, primarily among adults. Males were three times more likely than females to end up in the hospital with traumatic brain injuries.

Niagara County will officially open its county parks for the season on Saturday, May 29. The county operates five sites: Burmaster, Krull, Oppenheim, Royalton and West Canal. Mayor Robert Restaino announced the retirement of three City of Niagara Falls firemen: Battalion Chief Cliff Mayes, Battalion Chief David McGovern and Chief of Fire Prevention Jeffrey Benjamin. The retirement of these men is effective Saturday, May 29. Together, these firemen account for 87 years of experience and their contributions will last for many years to come.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced the New York Power Authority's board of trustees approved three low-cost hydropower allocations that will create 102 jobs across Western New York and spur $145 million in private capital investments. The approved awards of 3,580 kilowatts of hydropower from the Power Authority's Niagara Power Project in Lewiston are to Americold Real Estate in Chautauqua County, SGS Recovery in Niagara County and Sumitomo Rubber USA in Erie County.
