Despite the tragedy of their clubhouse burning and being demolished in March of this year, Niagara Sailing Club’s officers, in full uniform, plus directors and membership, will hold their traditional Memorial Day opening and flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31, at 3619 East River Road, Grand Island.
This marks the club’s 88th year. The public is welcome to attend.
After the ceremony, refreshments will be served out of the metal past commodore’s bowl, which was among the few items salvaged from the remnants of the fire.
Fundraising efforts are underway to assist in NSC’s rebuilding efforts, including a GoFundMe campaign.
