Western New York Shelby and Mustang Club hosts Nickel City Mustang Roundup

The Western New York Shelby and Mustang Club will host the Nickel City Mustang Roundup July 29-31 at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel at 1340 Millersport Highway in Amherst. More than 400 cars are expected in the show, with some coming from as far away as California. Organizers said spectator turnout of 2,500 is expected during the course of the event.
Pump prices down: National average drops 16 cents

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $4.52, down 16 cents from last week. One year ago, the price was $3.17. The New York state average is $4.69, down 11 cents since last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.20.
Legislator Hill says new disc golf course in Royalton Ravine Park a 'huge hit'

The new disc golf course that opened at the beginning of summer in Royalton Ravine Park appears to be a huge hit with Niagara County residents, according to Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill. This is the second disc course opened by Niagara County Parks, with the original located in Burmaster Park at Bond Lake.

The church opened in 1922 and continues to serve at that very same location today. The land for the church was part of a fruit tree farm and was donated by the family of the late Jonathan Bowen.
New legislation expands pedestrian & bicyclist safety

Hochul announces $234 million in additional food assistance for July

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for July. All households participating in SNAP - including those already at the maximum level of benefits - will receive a supplemental allotment this month, resulting in a roughly $234 million infusion of federal funding into the New York state economy.
NYS banning smoking in state-owned parks & beaches

Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed legislation (S.4142/A.5061) prohibiting smoking in all state-owned beaches, boardwalks, marinas, playgrounds, recreation centers and group camps. Smoking in these designated areas will be punishable with a civil fine of $50.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the completion of a $3.5 million supportive housing project in downtown North Tonawanda. Supported through the Homeless Housing and Assistance Program, the adaptive reuse of the structure, at 49 Tremont St., created 12 units of affordable housing, including eight studio apartments with on-site supportive services to help women who have experienced homelessness and are survivors of domestic violence.
