Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced a new expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in New York. Beginning March 10, all New Yorkers 60 years of age and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine, while public-facing essential workers from governmental and nonprofit entities will be eligible beginning March 17. This expansion also includes public-facing essential building services workers.

Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh and Director of Public Health Daniel J. Stapleton on Tuesday said it does not appear Niagara County will be getting the amount of vaccine doses it expected from New York state. The county ordered 6,500 doses of vaccine, including 5,000 of Johnson & Johnson. The county is still expecting a small supply of Moderna.

This year's festival, taking place July 10-11, will be back as a live event and is planned to take place in Niagara Square and on a portion of Delaware Avenue. More than 22,500 first doses and more than 18,000 second doses have been administered. Moreover, 48 pop-up sites have been established in houses of worship.

Counties across the state this week are raising concerns that county employees' personal data has been used to file for, and collect, COVID-19-related unemployment insurance. And they are including this warning: If you suspect fraudulent unemployment insurance activity you should immediately report it to the New York State Department of Labor at dol.ny.gov/report-fraud.
