The Niagara County Legislature, on Tuesday, passed on a resolution authorizing the county to enter into an intermunicipal agreement to transfer a surplus ambulance to Orleans County.

In honor of Purple Heart Appreciation Day, Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns recognized Erie County Purple Heart recipients being added to the William J. Donovan Purple Heart Book of Merit for 2024. No formal record of Purple Heart Recipients in Erie County existed prior to 2018 when Kearns originated Erie County's version of the "Book of Merit."

Empire State Development (ESD) announced the completion of 110 Sweeney Street, a new mixed-use development on the waterfront in the City of North Tonawanda. The project consists of a new, two-story 21,000-square-feet building that includes 15 residential units, two commercials spaces, and a newly opened ground-floor restaurant, District 37 Kitchen and Tap House.
Rape conviction in Niagara County

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Martice D. Porter, age 22, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty in County Court to the crime of rape in the third degree. Porter admitted to having sexual intercourse with an underage female in 2023.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Interim Commissioner Sean Mahar announced hunting and trapping licenses and deer management permits (DMPs) for the 2024-25 season are now on sale. The sale kicks off the first time that all hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and associated tags will be printed on plain paper rather than plastic stock.

The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage as the nation faces dangerous levels of heat and people head out for final summer travel plans. Since July 1, the Red Cross national blood supply has fallen by more than 25%, and blood donors of all types, especially those with type O blood, are urged to give as soon as possible to help patients receive lifesaving medical care.

NFPD find woman injured on road

On Aug. 5, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Niagara Falls Police received a call of an injured woman in the roadway at 22nd Street and Niagara Avenue. Responding officers discovered a 50-year-old Niagara Falls woman with life-threatening injuries. It appears she was operating an e-bike when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash.
