The Niagara County Department of Public Works announced the Western New York Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is honoring the Tonawanda Creek Road rehabilitation project as its 2020 Transportation Project of the Year. The Niagara Power Project has a new executive in charge of its operations following the appointment by the New York Power Authority of Daniella Piper to regional manager of Western New York - the top position at NYPA's flagship hydroelectric project in Lewiston. Arts Services Inc. (ASI) awarded 25 "Give for Greatness" grants in the amount of $1,000 each to 25 arts and cultural nonprofit organizations based in Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. The 25 organizations were selected from 57 total applications for their work and accomplishments in 2020 by a panel of local leaders from the industry.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced a new expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in New York. Beginning March 10, all New Yorkers 60 years of age and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine, while public-facing essential workers from governmental and nonprofit entities will be eligible beginning March 17. This expansion also includes public-facing essential building services workers.

Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh and Director of Public Health Daniel J. Stapleton on Tuesday said it does not appear Niagara County will be getting the amount of vaccine doses it expected from New York state. The county ordered 6,500 doses of vaccine, including 5,000 of Johnson & Johnson. The county is still expecting a small supply of Moderna.
