More than 2,000 Mighty Niagara Half Marathon and Hospice 5K Dash/Walk participants hit the pavement in Lewiston on Saturday, creating quite a view from Artpark all the way to Porter on the Lake, where finishers vied for cash prizes and trophies.

Former Youngstown resident Matthew Glynn was the overall winner with a time of 1.17.06. The first female runner, Mindie Sawtelle, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, was fourth overall with a time of 1.21.10.

Stella Niagara Education Park sixth grade students Lucy Ebbole and Ella Colbus entered their science fair projects in the Niagara County Fair held July 30 through Aug. 3. They both received blue ribbons for their projects and were recommended for the New York State Fair, which was held in Syracuse in early September.
