The New York State Department of Transportation has announced the construction of the Interstate 190 southbound bridge over the Niagara Power Project, in the towns of Lewiston and Niagara, has been completed. Demolition and reconstruction of the Interstate 190 northbound bridge is scheduled to begin. As a result, the current pattern of lane shifts will be modified beginning this Friday, Sept. 26.

On Friday, motorists on Interstate 190 southbound will remain in a single lane and will be shifted back to the Interstate 190 southbound bridge. Traffic on Interstate 190 northbound will be reduced to one lane. Then, on Saturday, Interstate 190 northbound traffic will be opened back up to two lanes using a portion of the newly constructed Interstate 190 southbound bridge.

NY Route 265, Military Road, will continue to be detoured onto Interstate 190 for the duration of this phase of the project.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Motorists are further reminded fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
