Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will be present with adoptable dogs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. this Saturday, and Sunday as part of the New York Power Authority Wildlife Festival. HON will be located outside on "Dog Island." Volunteers invite the public to come meet Libby, Patches, Pluto and Tulip.

Photos and information on these and all their animals are available on the HON website, www.heartofniagara.org. The public is invited to come and meet these beautiful animals and to find out more about the adoption process, animal care, and upcoming meetings and events.

Donations received this weekend will offset the costs of the medical care and recent surgery for Buffy and other ongoing medical needs. Bon-Ton Community Books will be available for $5; 100 percent of the proceeds from Bon-Ton book sales goes to HON and will help offset the rescue's medical bills.

Heart of Niagara is a not-for-profit companion animal rescue organization based in Niagara County. Its mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. Volunteers have adopted out more than 215 animals to date and operate solely on donations and the generosity and support of the public.

Monthly volunteer meetings take place the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St. Meetings are open to the public and new volunteers are always welcome.

For more information, visit the HON website and "Like" HON on Facebook at Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue Inc. You may also call HON's main number at 716-345-7129 for more information.
