Pickleball enthusiasts can now play the new game at the St. Peter Lutheran Church and School gymnasium, 4169 Church St., Lockport. The court is open from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

LeChase Construction has placed the last steel beam onto the top of the $29 million Explore & More Children's Museum at Canalside in downtown Buffalo. A milestone event, called a "topping off" ceremony in the construction industry, was held recently with members of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp., museum leaders and local schoolchildren to celebrate the occasion.

The City of Niagara Falls, Old Falls Street, The Conference & Event Center, Destination Niagara Falls USA and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino hosted a grand tree-lighting ceremony Saturday to celebrate the season and kickoff the new Jingle Falls promotion. The event took place at Seneca Square (in front of Seneca Niagara), and featured a performance by Michael Cavanaugh of Broadway's "Movin' Out" before the light switch was turned on illuminating a 35-foot Blue Spruce.

You're sitting in a small concert venue in a big city. The curtain is a pastel pink drape with flowers. The lights go down and you hear the first chord sung. When the curtain drops, Harry Styles is standing on stage in a patterned suit and singing his hit, "Ever Since New York." People start screaming and Styles commands the stage with his presence and "unique" dance moves. He struts around the stage with pride flags and water bottles, and sings "Happy Birthday" to an audience member.

The Sayfullo Saipov, Florida resident who arrived in the U.S. in 2010 from Uzbekistan killed eight and injured 11 pedestrians who were walking on 6th avenue and cyclists along a bike path on the West Side highway.

There's no time to rest for the Niagara men's hockey team, as working toward success is time-consuming. The team meets for skating Monday through Thursday and workouts take place Monday through Wednesday. On Fridays, the team has games, so the skates are optional.

At last Tuesday's North Tonawanda Common Council meeting, the meeting moved along rather quick, but a majority of the meeting was conducted by citizens during public input. Many of the topics discussed involved issues citizens were having in the area and felt the city should take some accountability to fix them.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has formally signed two local laws that respect and honor the service of Erie County veterans. The first, Local Law Intro. No. 18-1, makes permanent a 15 percent exemption on certain qualifying real property for Cold War veterans as long as the veteran owns it. This is a change from the previous version of the law that allowed the exemption to stand for 10 years from the date of property purchase.
