Collaborative community event offers Saturday activities, events
The City of Niagara Falls, Old Falls Street, The Conference & Event Center, Destination Niagara Falls USA and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino hosted a grand tree-lighting ceremony Saturday to celebrate the season and kickoff the new Jingle Falls promotion. The event took place at Seneca Square (in front of Seneca Niagara), and featured a performance by Michael Cavanaugh of Broadway's "Movin' Out" before the light switch was turned on illuminating a 35-foot Blue Spruce.
Jingle Falls USA is a new collaborative holiday celebration taking place on three Saturdays (Dec. 2-16). With multiple activities happening each day, Jingle Falls USA has planned something for guests of all ages. There is a host of activities for patrons to enjoy around the surrounding area of Old Falls and Third streets. In addition, there is "Gingerbread Wonderland" programming hosted inside the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
Prior to the tree-lighting, the City of Niagara Falls hosted its first candlelight stroll down Main Street to Third Street, where guests enjoyed caroling by Niagara Falls City School District students. The group then headed into Seneca Square for the ceremony.
After a fireworks display, guests were treated to an outdoor showing of the movie "Elf" on Old Falls Street. There also was a Holiday Marketplace inside The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls.
