Western New York Independent Living Inc. (WNYIL) welcomed Sheryl B. Major as the newest employee of its Independence Express (IE) transportation division, where she will be among the drivers of its fleet of wheelchair-lift equipped vans and minivans for those without mobility impairments. As a staff driver, Major will be delivering medications, groceries and medical equipment to individuals who are sheltering at home, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday reminded New Yorkers of the availability of free COVID-19 testing in Oneonta and Western New York. Three new temporary rapid testing sites will open in the City of Oneonta, Otsego County, tomorrow at 11 a.m. After tomorrow, the sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday announced New York state's COVID-19 hospitalizations and intubations have dropped to new lows. Hospitalizations dropped to 458, the lowest number since March 16, and intubations dropped to 48, the lowest number since mid-March. New York state's infection rate has been less than 1% for 22 straight days - though it's been as high as 2% this week in Western New York.
