Red Cross testing blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies

For a limited time, the American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for coronavirus antibodies. Plasma from routine donations that have high levels of antibodies may be used as convalescent plasma to help meet the needs of COVID-19 patients with weakened immune systems.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced New York is distributing nearly $24 million in federal funding to domestic violence programs and shelters, sexual assault programs, and rape crisis centers. The funding will help these programs expand on-site coronavirus testing and vaccination availability, offset fiscal challenges caused by the pandemic, better reach underserved communities, and support the recent uptick in survivors seeking help.

Memorial now offering in-house dialysis to patients

Kathy Hochul on Monday announced that more than $1.65 million in goods and services have been recovered for New Yorkers who received faulty or fraudulent service from auto dealers and repair shops. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles helped customers recover titles when dealerships closed abruptly, assisted people to get repairs or refunds, and in some cases, dealerships bought back vehicles to settle disputes.
