The Mount St. Mary's St. Francis Guild will host a harvest auction beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Legacy Drive Clubhouse, located at 785 Legacy Drive in Lewiston. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Neighborhood Health Center's annual Christmas Shoppe, led by Sister Nora Sweeney. The Christmas Shoppe assists needy families in the region during the holidays.

The center, which provides services for children ages infant on up, opened its doors adjacent to Catholic Health's Mount St. Mary's Hospital in 1988. To celebrate this occasion, the center will hold an open house for the community from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served and there will be fun for the whole family.

At its Sept. 25 meeting, the Grand Island Board of Education honored Grayson Shelp, 13, for his dedication to selling popcorn for Boy Scout Troop 510. During this past summer, Grayson sold $15,000 worth of popcorn, breaking his own record that he set two years ago.

Sculptor Susan Geissler directed a group of volunteers from American Legion Post 1346 in the annual cleaning and waxing of the statue of Charles DeGlopper. Geissler, whose works include the Freedom Crossing and Tuscarora Heroes monuments in Lewiston, said regular cleaning and waxing of bronze sculptures will ensure they stay in good condition for years to come.
