Jan. 12, 1935 – May 22, 2023
Martha Lou (Rager) Muller, 88, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Buffalo General Medical Center.
Martha was born and raised in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, and went on to lead a life of laughter, family and community. She always appreciated a good joke (close relations know she had a knack for folding napkins into the shape of a brassiere), and loved to count her winnings in pennies and nickels after card games with friends.
A longtime member of the Golden Age Center, she enjoyed time spent traveling, forming deep friendships, and honing crochet skills to be passed down through generations. She worked as a cook manager at Huth Road Elementary for 35 years, and her cinnamon roll recipe was requested during every visit.
After many years as a square dancer and music lover, she went on to be a fan and supporter of the Queen City Jass Society. Martha loved animals, most of all her kitties, and donated to the ASPCA among other charities. She was recognized for volunteering in her community, including delivering for Meals on Wheels until she, in turn, was the recipient.
She is survived by her children: Laura Gebele (Mike), David Muller (Jacqueline) and Suzanne Muller; five grandchildren, two-and-a-half great-grandchildren; one sister, Terry Antonietta; three brothers: Jim, Bud, Allen Rager; her boyfriend of many years, John Duchnik; and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grand Island Golden Age Center or the ASPCA.
A celebration of life is planned for the near future.
