Fundraiser will feature works by 23 regional and international artists
Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center’s most important fundraiser of the year, “AHA! (Annual Hallwalls Auction),” returns to Asbury Hall at Babeville at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1. The anticipated auction shows the works of 23 regional and international artists who have exhibited at Hallwalls in its 48-year history.
“ ‘AHA!’ is one of the region’s most beloved art parties of the year, bringing both local and international artists to downtown Buffalo in support of Hallwalls,” said Parrish Gibbons, director of development and communications at Hallwalls. “This is the perfect event for the emerging artist eager to diver deeper in the WNY art community, the seasoned collector who knows where to acquire the works of their favorite artists, and anyone in between.”
A press release stated, “AHA always features artwork from Hallwalls’ long history and the thousands of artists who have exhibited there throughout the years. The available works are offered along a range of price points to appeal to the savvy and the burgeoning collector of contemporary art.”
This year’s lots include work by Bruce Adams, Laylah Ali, Jozef Bajus, Kyle Butler, Ellen Carey, Charles Clough, Bonnie Collura, Jackie Felix, Erin Finley, Dorothy Fitzgerald, Shea Hembrey, Wayne Hodge, Richard Huntington, Deborah Jack, Lester Johnson, Shanel Kerekes, David Kramer, Suzy Lake, Carl Lee, Julian Montague, Joshua Reiman, Barbara Jo Revelle, Aura Rosenberg, and virocode.
The evening will include an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, ice luge, music by abcdj, lighting by Toy Bros Entertainment and the action of live bidding. All proceeds raised support Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center’s ability to provide accessible visual, media, performing and literary arts programing. Tickets are available online at www.hallwalls.org and at the door.
