Island voters approved the Grand Island Central School District's 2024-25 budget by the vote of 772-445 during a vote at the high school on Tuesday. Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced a Niagara County jury returned a guilty verdict against Gregory M. Pearson, age 34, of Niagara Falls, this afternoon after deliberating for less than two hours. Pearson was convicted of seven counts of predatory sexual assault against a child committed in Niagara Falls in the years 2017 through 2021.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced 53-year-old Demetrius F. Gore of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to one count of assault in the second degree (class "D" felony) for his involvement in an attack that resulted in serious physical injuries to the victim.
