It's Monday morning. The incessant chime of your alarm resonates throughout your entire body, forcing you awake. An annoying daily occurrence, reminding you that you only have 30 minutes left before you have to leave your house. You groan and begrudgingly throw off the warm blankets from your body, slump out of bed and walk out of your bedroom door. Just as you are about to reach the bathroom, a blurry figure slips past and closes the door directly in your face.

The Nancy Price Memorial 5K Run will be held Saturday, May 11, starting at the Youngstown Fire Hall, 625 Third St. The race route will take runners through the village and along the river walking path at Fort Niagara State Park, ultimately ending back at the Youngstown Fire Department.

She captained her team to a resounding victory in "Lewiston Jeopardy," earning a large trophy and the applause of an impressed audience.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the first Saturday in May marks the beginning of the fishing season for several popular coolwater sportfish species, including walleye, northern pike, pickerel and tiger muskellunge. He noted the coolwater conditions of early spring can render walleye and northern pike fishing particularly good, and anglers are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities New York has to offer.

The Grand Island Lions Club will hold the 50th annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Special Kids Picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the ballroom of Radisson Grand Island, 100 Whitehaven Road. The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad and Italian bread. Money from the event will support the annual Special Kids Picnic in July.

As part of the recent "Shop Hop" event in Lewiston, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce held a contest to name the Easter Bunny. More than 70 entries were submitted. The Chamber of Commerce staff had a hard time deciding what name would be best. After much consideration, the winning name is "Mary Hoppins."
