Buffalo Prep to celebrate 30 years in Western New York at 'Celebration of Achievement'

Event to honor largest graduating class of high school seniors completing rigorous academic enrichment program

Buffalo Prep, an organization dedicated to providing local, talented, underrepresented youth access to and preparation for college preparatory high schools and higher education, will host its 2019 “Celebration of Achievement” event presented by M&T Bank on Thursday, May 2. The event will honor high school seniors who have successfully completed Buffalo Prep’s academic enrichment programs.

More than 550 prominent community members, Buffalo Prep alumni, students and families are expected to participate. The event will take place from 5-9 p.m. at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. WKBW-TV Channel 7 anchor Ashley Rowe will emcee.

In addition, Buffalo Prep is celebrating its 30th year in Western New York and will be honoring M&T Bank and the Children’s Foundation of Erie County for their steadfast support. Robert G. Wilmers Endowed Executive Director Patti Stephen will share Buffalo Prep’s vision for the future, including its new home at the University at Buffalo, as well as reflect on the organization’s achievements over the last three decades.

Visuals include:

•Wall of Hope, where attendees can leave inspirational messages for Buffalo Prep’s next 30 years (to be displayed at the program’s new building once complete)

•VIP cocktail reception for Buffalo Prep’s graduating seniors and their families

•Taylor Lewis, Nardin Academy Class of 2019, to perform “Rise Up”

•First annual Distinguished Alumnus Award presentation

•Micah Moore, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, ’19, to speak on the impact of Buffalo Prep

Since its founding in 1989, Buffalo Prep has worked with thousands of underrepresented students to provide academic and social support in a rigorous and nurturing environment. Through this preparatory process, Buffalo Prep students are able to enter and excel in local private and competitive public high schools, colleges and universities.
