Earl William Brydges Jr. passed away peacefully early morning Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Amherst home of his daughter, Courtney Peters, and her husband, Geoff. He spent the last two-plus years of his life with them.

Niagara County clerk: Driver's license expiration extended again

Niagara County Clerk Joseph Jastrzemski on Wednesday said Gov. Andrew Cuomo has issued executive order 202.97, which extends the expiration dates on licenses and permits that expired after March 1, 2020, to April 16, 2021. At this time, all transactions must be done by appointment only, although Jastrzemski said his office is working to change that next month.

Niagara County: Godfrey proposes solar panel recycling law

Niagara County Legislator Dave Godfrey, joined by all of his colleagues in the Legislature's majority, will propose a local law that requires solar panel manufacturers to finance the recovery and recycling of any of their solar panels installed in Niagara County when the panel is replaced. A resolution to set a public hearing on the local law is set for tomorrow's meeting of the Legislature.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced the start of construction for Heritage Point on the South Aud Block at Canalside in Buffalo. The project includes two approximately 103,000-square-feet mixed-use buildings separated by an open walkway that follows a portion of the historic Prime Slip. Republican Assemblyman Angelo Morinello joined members of the Senate and Assembly minority conferences on Monday for a press conference calling for the repeal of two of Gov. Cuomo's executive orders - 202.52 and 202.74 - which require customers to purchase food with any order of an alcoholic beverage, while forcing restaurants and bars to close at 11p.m.
