U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced Frank R. Parlato, Jr., 68, who was convicted of willful failure to file returns involving cash transactions of more than $10,000, was sentenced to serve one-year supervised release, to include five months home detention, and fined $10,000 by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Parlato also agreed to forfeit $1,000,138 and will pay $184,939 in restitution to the IRS.

The eighth annual Oliver Street Art Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, between Schenck and Robinson streets in North Tonawanda. Max and Brook were planning to get rid of years' worth of clutter from their Niagara Falls home, including furniture, clothing and even a set of snow tires. They got to planning and decided to include their neighbors. They made a flyer and hand-delivered them to people they knew around the block. The response was positive, and they decided to post a yard sign on a few lawns to see if there was extended interest.

The Wheatfield Garden Club will hold a plant sale at the Wheatfield Family Picnic, beginning at noon Aug. 6. There will be perennials and mums available for purchase. Proceeds will be used to further the Garden Club's efforts to beautify the Town of Wheatfield.

She is a 20-year veteran of the hospital and holds a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Roberts Wesleyan College, and an associate degree in nursing from Niagara County Community College.

At approximately 7:34 p.m. Sunday a 14-year-old male was struck by a car at the Niagara Falls Motel at the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard The teen was transported to John R. Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo, where he was listed as in critical condition.

Incoming freshmen Valentina Krajacic and Eoin Potwin, and Niagara University junior Gabriella Cole, are the 2023 recipients of the university's Merani Scholarship, a collaboration between Niagara and the Merani Hotel Group to provide opportunities for high-level experiential learning in the hospitality industry. The students will receive an annual scholarship of $7,500 and paid rotating internships at Merani properties.
