Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Austin Page, age 23, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison, followed by five years post-release supervision, for his conviction of assault in the first degree. Page had previously plead guilty to assaulting a 2-month-old child, causing severe injuries including broken bones and brain injury.

“When a violent crime like this is committed against a particularly vulnerable victim – in this case a helpless, 2-month-old baby – it is particularly egregious,” Seaman said. “The long prison sentence imposed by the judge is wholly deserved.”

The child, who was the victim of the crime, is now in caring hands and doing well.

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Heather Nicholson of the special victims bureau. The sentence was imposed by County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek.
