Per the Niagara County Sheriff's Office: On July 24 at 16:56 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a possible boating accident. An occupant of a mid-size anchored vessel, just east of Gratwick Park, jumped off the vessel into the Niagara River for a swim. The male subject was quickly overtaken by the fast-moving current and went under the water for a short time.

Niagara County Legislator Irene Myers said the Niagara County Department of Public Works will begin work to replace the Porter Center Road Bridge over 6 Mile Creek in the Town of Porter next week. The bridge, located just south of Braley Road, will be closed starting Friday, July 31.

Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced the multiagency task force to combat violations of coronavirus-related regulations at bars and restaurants conducted nearly 1,100 compliance checks between July 21-23, documenting violations at 84 establishments. The task force is led by State Liquor Authority Chairman Vincent Bradley and State Police Lt. Col. Dominick Chiumento.

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie announced the Legislature advanced legislation to limit the immunity that was granted in the state fiscal year 2020-21 budget. The new legislation (S.8835/A.10840) will narrow that scope to certain health care professionals who treat patients during the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Today, the Department of Homeland Security announced it will lift its ban on the Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) for New York residents. After DHS cut off the TTP program in February, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the State Legislature amended the law that prevents sharing of information to federal law enforcement officers who are working to protect the citizens of New York and the American people.
