Big 4 basketball coaches and more to participate and help save lives
For over 25 years, the Coaches vs. Cancer program, in collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has united coaches and fans nationwide to help the American Cancer Society defeat a common enemy: cancer. Through fundraising and education initiatives, the Coaches vs. Cancer program has supported the American Cancer Society in improving and saving lives from cancer in the U.S. and worldwide.
The fight isn’t over, and the group needs you on its team.
During this event at Harvest Hill Golf Course, Division I NCAA coaches from across the state, and special guests, will participate in the inaugural 716 Golf Classic. The tournament will host 25 foursomes. Coaches scheduled to appear, or play include Mark Schmidt of St. Bonaventure University, former Bonnies coach Jim Satalin, Jim Whitesell of Buffalo, Greg Paulus of Niagara and Reggie Witherspoon of Canisius. Various media personalities including Sal Capaccio of Entercom and WGR-AM 550 are also set to appear.
During the Aug. 26 event, Coaches vs. Cancer will honor Daemen Coach Mike MacDonald with the Jim Satalin award for his extraordinary contributions to the program and raising funds and cancer awareness.
Funds raised from this event will benefit the American Cancer Society in direct support of cancer research, through the Coaches vs. Cancer Partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, which has raised over 125 million dollars to date.
