At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Grand Island, governor of District 7090, Kevin Crouse, called the club "exemplary," and so much so that the community should be called "Grand Rotary Island." Crouse was in town on his annual visit to the Island.

The Town of Lewiston Recreation Department reports it is now taking applications for rentals at the Lewiston Family Ice Rink for December and January of this winter. "Days available are very limited. Rentals can be used for any type of party or approved ice activity, including birthday parties," said Mike Dashineau, town parks and recreation director.

The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy will be restoring a long-lost garden to Riverside Park. The project, now called RiverRock Gardens, is underway and, once completed, will boast 13,000 square-feet of new pathways, more than 1,100 shrubs and 1,000 perennials, all of which follow a historic plant plan from 1898.
