The Town of Lewiston Recreation Department reports it is now taking applications for rentals at the Lewiston Family Ice Rink for December and January of this winter. "Days available are very limited. Rentals can be used for any type of party or approved ice activity, including birthday parties," said Mike Dashineau, town parks and recreation director.

Rentals are available on most Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fee for a two-hour rental is $200. Rental includes all ice time, skate rentals, rink guards and supervision, use of the warming tent, and any available equipment, including hockey goals, and skating aids.

For information and to register for a date, call the Recreation Department at 716-754-8213, ext. 254.

In other news, Dashineau reports the Recreation Department and Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee will be hosting open interviews for winter seasonal positions within the Recreation Department on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 18 and 19, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Lewiston Town Hall, 1375 Ridge Road, Lewiston. Positions available include ice rink skate guards, ice rink service desk workers, basketball referees, and basketball instructors.

"Lewiston Recreation is often the first employment opportunity for our communities youth, and serves as a vital training ground for the application and interview process for so many Lewiston teenagers," Dashineau said.

Applicants can apply at the interview process and should bring identification. If an applicant cannot make open interviews, an application should be filled out before Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Lewiston Town Hall. Applicants should be 16 years old or have up-to-date working papers.

For more information, call Dashineau at 716-754-8213, ext. 254, or email [email protected].
