The Niagara Pioneer Strikers completed a successful season by winning the Buffalo & Western New York Junior Soccer League Division 1 championship. The team finished the season with an 8-2 record in the league, and an overall record of 11-4-2

Project Play Western New York (WNY) announced the nomination process for its Coaches Honor Roll Awards and Dick Gallagher Lifetime Achievement Award is now open. Individuals and organizations from all eight counties of Western New York are invited to nominate youth sports coaches from non-scholastic programs for the recognitions.

A new date has been chosen for "Pitch Hit & Run" at Cardinal O'Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda. The event, now scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday July 27, is open to those ages 7 to 14. The June 29 event was postponed because of rain and thunderstorms.

Lew-Port Youth Football is hosting the 2024 NEYSA Flag Football Tournament on June 8 and 9 at the Lewiston-Porter campus on Creek Road. Games will start at 9 a.m. both days, and will end at 5 p.m., at Blakeslee and Elia fields by the high school. There will also be games on the fields behind the PEC.

Outside the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum last Friday, we met a graceful Billye Aaron, the widow of Henry Lewis "Hammerin' Hank" Aaron to present a plaque, titled, "Henry Aaron's Connection with Buffalo, New York." It was one day after a bronze statue of her husband was unveiled, and moments before the ribbon would be cut on the museum's newest exhibit, "The Souls of the Game: The Voices of Black Baseball."

With an emphasis on working properly on the development of youth and mental health, the Youth Bureau is happy to sponsor this event free of charge for Niagara County resident coaches, Niagara County youth sport organization coaches, and all coaches/administrators within Niagara County school districts.
