Niagara County Community College will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address on Tuesday, Nov. 19, on the Sanborn campus, in the Arts and Media Theater, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road.

The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

A reading of the Gettysburg Address by Lincoln character actor Jeffery Bloomquist will be followed by keynote speaker, Dr. Carole Emberton from SUNY Buffalo. Emberton, an award-winning historian, will discuss the initially negative public reaction to the speech and how it has become the ringing endorsement of freedom and American nationalism that it is today.

A panel consisting of retired NCCC history professor Clyde Tyson, NCCC student and former Marine Anthony Garza and education director of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site Mark Lozo will respond to the keynote speaker's remarks.

Lincoln and members of the 155th Infantry Civil War reenactment group will be available to meet the public prior to the event.
