Turkish Cultural Center's Friendship Dinner coming to Niagara University

The Peace Islands Institute and the Turkish Cultural Center at Buffalo are holding the fifth annual Friendship Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Niagara University's Castellani Art Museum on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., NU president, will deliver the opening address, while Ori Z. Soltes, a professor of theology, philosophy and art history at Georgetown University, will serve as the keynote speaker. Soltes will also be signing copies of his book, "Embracing the World: Fethullah Gulen's Thought and Its Relationship with Jelaluddin Rumi and Others."

Bringing together political, academic, religious and other Western New York community leaders, the theme of this year's dinner is "Embracing the World through Education and Service." Its focus is on promoting diversity, peace and mutual understanding through dialogue and education.
