WNY EquiFest, in partnership with the Western Chapter of the New York State Horse Council, will run an equine exposition and equestrian gathering at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg on March 19-20. The event will welcome back horse enthusiasts, owners, trainers, clinicians, riders and vendors to celebrate the horse industry in New York. More than 6,000 have attended this two-day, family-friendly event in the past.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday announced the New York Power Authority board of trustees approved economic development awards to three companies that will create 79 new jobs and spur nearly $46 million in capital investments. The NYPA board awarded two Erie County businesses with low-cost hydropower allocations - generated at NYPA's Niagara Power Project in Lewiston - and one St. Lawrence County business with funding through the Northern New York Power Proceeds program.

The 42nd Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) Torch Relay kicks off Jan. 29 from two starting points, Buffalo and New York City, as the start of its six-day, 700-mile journey that will culminate in Lake Placid for the opening ceremony of the Feb. 3-6 Games. Opening appearances include New York City's famed Times Square and Buffalo's Lighthouse Park. The torch relay will be welcomed by dozens of communities along the two routes that will merge at the event site.
