Nicholas B. Sliz Sr. of Lewiston passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, in Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
He was born in Lackawanna on Dec. 17, 1940, the son of the late John and Zuzzana (Kolersar) Sliz. A graduate of Canisius College and the University of Detroit, Sliz was an electrical engineer with IBM for over 30 years and then became a computer technician with various companies in the area.
He enjoyed studying the Bible, playing golf and gardening. Sliz will be remembered for his sense of humor and always trying to make people laugh.
Nicholas is survived by his wife of 23 years, Arlene J. (Milano) Davitt Sliz; two sons: Dr. Nicholas (Lynn) Sliz Jr. and Mark Sliz; two grandchildren: Nicholas III and Alexander; his former wife, Cecilia (Randy) Watson; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Sliz, Mary Mino and Anna Komenda.
Family will be present from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 901 Cayuga St., Lewiston. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 6637 Luther St., Niagara Falls. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, or to a veterans association of choice.
