For the first time ever, the Ghostlight Theatre is putting on a production adapted and written by a company member.

Amanda R. Woomer (Ghostlight Theatre member since 2006) has adapted “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” in the same style as other Ghostlight winter classics such as “Nosferatu: The Legend of Dracula,” “Frankenstein” and “Treasure Island.”

The story follows Clarice, a young woman hired to be the governess in the home of an esteemed doctor. But not everything is as it appears in the home of Dr. Henry Jekyll, and Clarice is quickly thrown into a world of murder, monsters and madmen.

This production stars Woomer as Clarice, Chris Fire as Dr. Jekyll, Daniel Baker as Mr. Hyde, as well as a cast of 13 other individuals who have been featured on stages all throughout Western New York. Also, for the first time ever, this production is co-directed by L. Don Swartz and Woomer.

The show runs from Thursday, Feb. 17, to Sunday, Feb. 27. Tickets are $16 for general admission and $14 for veterans, students and seniors. They can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jekyllhyde-tickets-215778638717?aff=ebdssbdestsearch or by calling 716-743-1614.

A press release stated, “This is our first ‘Winter Classic’ after surviving through two years without performing due to COVID.”

All attendees must show proof of coronavirus vaccination in order to be admitted.
