NCCC hosts student showcase during spring open house

Niagara County Community College will host a student showcase from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21. This event gives students an opportunity to display and explain a project connected to a classroom experience under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students present their work as either a poster project, table project, art exhibition, or performance.

On Wednesday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a car vs. motorcycle accident in front of 2546 Niagara Falls Blvd., in the Town of Wheatfield. Upon arrival of deputies, it was observed the motorcycle was laying in the street behind a white SUV. The operator of the motorcycle was laying nearby. Both vehicles were in the northbound left lane.
Recovered body in Porter

On Wednesday afternoon, Niagara County Dispatch received a call from a boater in the Lower Niagara River stating there was a body floating in the water. U.S. Coast Guard retrieved the person from the water, where the deceased was then brought to the Coast Guard Station in Fort Niagara State Park.
Hochul announces approval of first adult-use cannabis conditional cultivation licenses to farms in New York

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the Cannabis Control Board approved 52 adult-use cannabis conditional cultivator licenses across the state. These are the first adult-use cannabis licenses granted in New York, and they advance the Seeding Opportunity Initiative.
