YMCA Buffalo Niagara has unveiled the anticipated T-shirt for the 127th annual YMCA Turkey Trot. Organizers said, "This year's T-shirt pays homage to the thousands of trotters who have participated over the years in the oldest consecutively run footrace in the world. The T-shirt showcases runners strolling in the background with the gorgeous City of Buffalo skyline in the foreground."

Holiday Happenings, held at the Grand Island Golden Age Center, featured a number of vendors and crafters, who sold such things as notecards, book pillows, jams and jellies, winter squash, soaps, homemade candies, and handmade blankets. In addition, people could buy lunch, prepared by the center's cook, or they could buy baked goods, prepared by members of the Golden Age Center.

The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area has initiated a series of public murals to bring visibility to the Main Street community in the north end of the City of Niagara Falls. Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority (BMHA) residents no longer need to mail or drop off their monthly rent payments thanks to the arrival of the new BMHA online portal, a web-based service available via smartphones and home computers. A Veterans Day program for children ages 7 to 11 will take place at the Niagara History Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The theme this year will be "Native American War Heroes" and will commemorate the local Tuscarora Heroes who assisted Lewiston residents escape the British and hostile Indian attack in 1813; as well as U.S. Union Army Officer Ely Parker, a Tonawanda Seneca, who penned the surrender terms at Appomattox, ending the Civil War.
