Their opportunity came last year when they organized an extremely successful Easter egg hunt on the VFW grounds at 2121 Grand Island Blvd.

Rob Ortt and several town highway superintendents from both counties at a press conference to push back against Gov. Kathy Hochul's proposed budget cuts to the CHIPS program. The CHIPS program is an important source of funding for road maintenance and improvement projects.

The Lewiston Community Lions recognized two significant donations to its "Village of Trees" initiative at a special meeting Tuesday at the Griffon Gastropub. Carol Perry, president of the New York State Lions Bermuda Foundation, represented a $4,400 matching grant; while Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh and Legislator Irene Myers were on hand to recognize $2,000 in awarded funding.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos reminds New Yorkers of the start of the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning. Since 2009, DEC has enforced the annual brush-burning ban from March 16 through May 14 to prevent wildfires and protect communities during heightened conditions for wildfires.
