Morinello announces Assembly reelection bid

Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello, R-C-I-Niagara Falls, announced he is seeking reelection to the Assembly. Morinello has served the 145th District in the Assembly since 2016 and previously served as Niagara Falls City Court Judge from 2001-15.

DEC: 'Monster' channel catfish breaks state record

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the state record for channel catfish was broken on May 8. Using cut bait while bottom fishing, Bailey Williams of Watertown reeled in a 35-pound, 12-ounce channel catfish from the Black River in Jefferson County. Bailey's record-breaking catch surpassed the previous state record catfish, caught from Lake Ontario in 2017, by 9 ounces.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday announced U.S. Rep. Antonio Delgado will be sworn in as lieutenant governor on Wednesday, May 25. Upon Delgado's resignation from Congress, Hochul will follow the process set out by law and issue a proclamation declaring a special election that will align with the recently set August election date.
