For over 25 years, the Coaches vs. Cancer program, in collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has united coaches and fans nationwide to help the American Cancer Society defeat a common enemy: cancer. Through fundraising and education initiatives, the Coaches vs. Cancer program has supported the American Cancer Society in improving and saving lives from cancer in the U.S. and worldwide.

AAA Western and Central New York has heard from many young drivers and their parents who are inquiring about the five-hour prelicensing course that is required in New York state to obtain a driver's license. With classroom instruction not allowed in New York at this time, AAA driver training is closely following state mandates and cannot legally offer the course.

In response to increased litter left behind by visitors to New York's natural areas, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has released a new PSA to remind outdoor adventurers to follow the principles of "Leave No Trace." The PSA features images of trash in the Catskills and the Adirondacks with a reminder that litter is not only unsightly, but can be deadly to New York's wildlife.

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie announced the Legislature advanced legislation to limit the immunity that was granted in the state fiscal year 2020-21 budget. The new legislation (S.8835/A.10840) will narrow that scope to certain health care professionals who treat patients during the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Kathy Hochul made her second visit to Niagara Falls in as many weeks to again send home the message Niagara has overcome COVID-19 and is open for business. On Tuesday, she said now is the time to consider a visit to the Cataract City as part of "staycation" plans this year.

Today, the Department of Homeland Security announced it will lift its ban on the Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) for New York residents. After DHS cut off the TTP program in February, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the State Legislature amended the law that prevents sharing of information to federal law enforcement officers who are working to protect the citizens of New York and the American people.

Congressman Brian Higgins, D-NY-26, announced the House of Representatives approved H.R. 6395, the fiscal year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill providing funding for the nation's military bases, research and operations. The legislation includes a maritime heritage amendment submitted by Higgins, as well as measures related to COVID-19 response suggested in Higgins' pandemic preparedness bill.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced all assistant district attorneys in his office will complete an implicit bias training course. The session will be provided virtually Wednesday afternoon by Buffalo City Court Judge Hon. Lenora Foote-Beavers to all prosecutors and confidential criminal investigators in the Erie County District Attorney's Office, as well as public defenders from the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo.
