The Buddy Walk is sponsored by The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara Inc., and is a licensed Buddy Walk event and affiliate organization of The National Down Syndrome Society.

Niagara University announces Carrie McLaughlin has been named the new dean of students following a nationwide search. McLaughlin comes to Niagara after five years as the director of student life at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. She will begin her new position on Monday, Sept. 12.

Thousands of hopefuls will have one more opportunity to audition for season 11 of "American Idol" at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on Thursday, Sept. 22. The New Jersey auditions will be the last stop on a nationwide search for the best undiscovered talent in the country. Season 11 auditions were also held in St. Louis; Portland, Ore.; San Diego; Pittsburgh; Charleston, S.C.; Denver; and Houston.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital will conduct its second annual "CardioCraze" on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 until 11 a.m. at Academy Park in the Village of Lewiston. Designed around a wellness walk that will incorporate Artpark, the neighborhood streets of the village, and Center Street, the event is a fundraiser for the health center's cardiology department.
