The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance on Monday reminded taxpayers who have yet to file their tax returns that the deadline to do so is Monday, May 17. To date, the department has processed more than 9 million returns and issued 4.7 million refunds. Eligible taxpayers who still need to prepare and submit their returns can do so for free at www.tax.ny.gov.

The Lewiston Council on the Arts and the Lewiston Public Library have teamed up to present a new offering, called "Bug Fest." It will take place in Seneca "Bug" Park, adjacent to the library on South Eighth St., from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 10. LCA said the event will feature "lots of cool, bug-themed programs for children of all ages."

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive at least the maximum allowable level of food benefits for May. For a 15th consecutive month, these emergency supplemental SNAP benefits are being provided to individuals and households already enrolled in SNAP.
