Motorcycle accident on Niagara Falls Boulevard

At approximately 2:57 p.m. Saturday, Niagara Falls Police and Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to a motorcycle crash in front of Delta Sonic at 7920 Niagara Falls Blvd. 

Per the Office of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino: A 23-year-old Niagara Falls man, driving a Victory motorcycle, was driving westbound on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the passing lane when he was struck by a vehicle that was exiting the Delta Sonic detailing stations. The Dodge Journey, which was operated by a Niagara Falls woman, was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Niagara Falls Boulevard. 

The driver of the motorcycle was ejected and was projected into eastbound traffic, where he was struck by a GMC Terrain and became pinned underneath.

Bystanders were able to lift the car with a jack and apply a tourniquet to the leg of the motorcyclist. They stayed with him until medical personnel arrived to take over his care.

The motorcyclist was transported to ECMC, where he underwent surgery. His condition was reported as unknown.

The driver of the Dodge and her passenger were taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation, but did not appear to have serious injuries. The driver and passenger in the GMC did not report any injuries.

There were several witnesses to the crash. The Niagara Falls Police Department crash management unit is continuing the investigation and charges are pending.
