The Town of Wheatfield Lions Club has completed elections for the year 2021-22 on Thursday. This includes a first female president.

President Lion Walt Garrow (president for the past three years) has passed the gavel to new President Lion Mary Beth Long. She has strong beliefs in Lions due to her helping her father, Lion Mike Schebell, who was a charter member of the Town of Wheatfield Lions Club. She remembers helping him sell "White Canes" for the blind when she was little.

Also present during this election meeting was Lion Ralph DeVantier, who is the longest continuous serving member. He, too, was a charter member with Lion Mike in 1973.

Long will support the theme "We Serve." These service areas include help and support for blind, diabetics, hunger, environment, children’s' cancer, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, medical equipment loans, and youth.
