Residents of Connect55+ communities came together in February for the annual Connect55+ can competition, a longstanding tradition organized by the Calamar Foundation to support local food banks and charities. This year, 22 communities participated, contributing an impressive 7,903 cans, all of which will be donated to 22 food banks and charities chosen by the residents in their local communities.

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced an 18-year-old male from Buffalo was sentenced yesterday afternoon before Buffalo City Court Judge Tiffany R. Perry to a one-year conditional discharge. As conditions of his sentence, the defendant must complete 60 hours of community service and continue with counseling.

On March 29 and 30, Old Fort Niagara presents a two-day block-printing workshop featuring Randy and Virginia Tucker of Louisville, Kentucky. Randy and Virginia are familiar faces at Old Fort Niagara as period merchants at the historic site's major events. In celebration of the 2025 bicentennial of the opening of the Erie Canal, the Niagara History Center has mounted "Images of the Erie Canal," a free public exhibition of artworks featuring the Erie Canal and Lockport locks. Comprising more than a dozen paintings from the collections of the History Center and Charles Rand Penney, the artworks highlight local artists from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
