On Dec. 21, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons boys basketball team sat with a record of 2-5. Since then, the Falcons proceeded to go 9-4 and finish with an 11-9 record - the program's best, according to coach Erik O'Bryan, in around 14 years.

NIMAC seeking applicants for Merrell Lane Scholarship

The Niagara Military Affairs Council has established a scholarship named in honor of Merrell Lane, long-time chairman and co-founder of NIMAC. The annual scholarship will be awarded to enlisted members assigned to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station who are in pursuit of an aviation-related career.

The cosmetology students at the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center spent their day talking to professionals in the fields of beauty, wellness and fashion. Their teachers, Jill Beatty, Cathy Bonaccorso and Pauline Carney, arranged for local vendors and colleges to come set up tables at the center and talk to the students. 
Local author visits Spruce Elementary

Author Jennifer Gold was the honored guest at Spruce Elementary School recently. Gold read to the students from her books "Top Leaf," which tells the story of a very rude leaf who lives at a top of a tree, and "Yes, I Knew the Queen" which is a long poem about letting a story get out of hand.
