Resolve to learn something new in 2019. The Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District’s Community Education program starts on Feb. 4, and continues through spring. The program’s motto, “Never stop learning,” remains the same, but new classes have been added and old favorites have evolved.

•Get your groove on in the “Soul Line Dancing” class. This class does not require a partner and it does not require dancing ability – just a positive attitude and a desire to move to some pretty groovy music.

•Take home a plate of personally made pierogis. The Grand Island Pie Lady is back and this time she will be teaching the art of pierogis.

•Speaking of art, Donna Klinger will have artists painting winter snow scenes that participants will be proud to hang on the wall. Also, participants can produce giftable painted wine glasses, or transform plain old rocks from the garden into beautiful sunset scenes.

•More into self-discovery and healing? The program is happy to welcome internet radio host Rev. John Shred and his “The Natural, Supernatural and Metaphysical World” class. Additionally, Chris Churakos and his “Mindfulness and Meditation” class will return. If more mainstream healing is of interest, take “Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED” training. Offered by the experts at iSafety, this is one of the least expensive CPR/AED training classes and students who complete the class receive a two-year certification card.

Also, “Child and Babysitting Training for Teens 11-15 years” is consistently one of the most popular classes, so, sign up quickly.

•Do you have a college-bound teen stressing about upcoming SAT and ACT exams? Are you a parent stressing about how to pay for college? All Pro Tutoring will be offering a variety of classes for the college-bound teen and their parents.

•Deaf Access Services will teach sign language. Additionally, participants can get to the roots of a family tree, discover the angels that guide you, knit a felted bubble bag, take a penetrating look at the JFK assassination, learn how to wisely invest money, play the ukulele, find an oil that will sooth the soul, become a yogi, and cook with Ben Glurich from NYS Cooperative Extension, who is back with new recipes and hands-on techniques.

The Community Education Program is still in its infancy, having revived the program just last spring after a seven-year hiatus.

The program is diverse, classes are reasonably priced, and the instructors are said to be dynamic. The Niagara-Wheatfield CSD believes that education should not stop at graduation and is a lifelong process.

The program invites everyone to start something new and fantastic in 2019. In the words of Meister Eckhart, “And suddenly you know it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings.

Registration materials and the late winter/spring 2019 class brochure can be found at the N-W district website on the “Community Education” page (http://www.nwcsd.org/domain/77). Hard copies of the brochure can be picked up at the N-W Administration Office (5700 West St., Sanborn) or from area libraries and town halls. Additionally, one can call the Community Education office at 215-3034 or email [email protected] and a brochure will be mailed.
