The week of Feb. 5-9, Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick's resolution transferring surplus property from Erie County's warehouse to the Town of Grand Island was approved by the Erie County Legislature. The items no longer served a purpose to Erie County, and were requested by municipal officials in Grand Island.

North Tonawanda sisters, Bailey and Shelby Walter, were recently recognized by the New York State Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. The awards are a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. The awards are in their 23rd year and conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Honorees were judged on criteria including personal initiative, effort, impact and personal growth.

Motorists are paying about a quarter more per gallon of gasoline than they did one year ago. While pump prices have dipped in recent weeks, this is not a trend that is expected to continue. AAA forecasts the national gas price average will be as much as $2.70 per gallon this spring - a pump price Americans have not paid since summer of 2015, when prices hit $2.81.
