Andrea Flanagan has joined the patient care services staff at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as a nursing administrative coordinator. Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer JoAnn Pellegrino announced the appointment.
A graduate of the nursing program at Erie Community College, Flanagan previously worked at Erie County Medical Center, where she was a charge nurse in the medical intensive care and medical-surgical units.
Her activities at ECMC included assisting in nurse training programs with Niagara University, University at Buffalo and Genesee Community College; assisting in the implementation of a new bedside verification system that resulted in improved patient care; and actively participating in quality assurance and hospital accreditation programs. She also was instrumental in the implementation of a mercy doula program, which trains medical students and community volunteers to be supportive companions to dying patients.
Flanagan is an active member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, serving locally as Western New York chapter secretary and nationally as a reviewer for the Beacon Award for Excellence, which recognizes individual units that distinguish themselves by improving every facet of patient care.
