Twenty-one-year-old Australian producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JOY. has released her "Six" EP today. Her team said the seven-song EP displays JOY.'s ability to craft ethereal and introspective electronic-pop songs anchored by sultry, hypnotic vocals, incisive songwriting and a keen focus on production.
"Six" was produced by JOY. in collaboration with Khaled Rohaim (Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Ty Dolla $ign) and was the culmination of countless writing and recording sessions with members of JOY.'s creative collective, "The Formula," including Dopamine, Manu Crooks, Anfa Rose and Miracle.
The EP includes her recently released dreamy track "Change." The "organic and raw" video, as described by JOY., was co-produced and co-directed by the artist herself. "Six" also includes her single and triple j favorite "Smoke Too Much," which has accumulated over 3 million streams to date and also gained support from Zane Lowe on Beats 1.
In her relatively short run, the ambitious multihyphenate JOY. has graduated from solo bedroom recordings, including her debut single "Captured," to her acclaimed debut EP, "ODE," which landed No. 1 on the iTunes electronic charts in 2015 and has been streamed over 5 million times to date.
