Pinnacle Community Services honors 2019 award recipients

Pinnacle Community Services is celebrating 124 years of continuous service to the Niagara community. The agency, formerly Family & Children's Service of Niagara, presented several awards at its second annual "Side by Side, Step by Step: An Awards Gala to Celebrate Our Journey" event, which took place March 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Niagara Falls.
'Magic Carpet' brings skiing ease to Emery Park

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz on Friday joined Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Daniel Rizzo at Emery Park in South Wales to inspect the newly installed "Magic Carpet," a 920-foot-long conveyor system/moving walkway that skiers and snowboarders stand on for a five-minute ride up the hill after their downhill run.

It had been the best season in 41 years for the Lewiston-Porter Lancers boys basketball team, but, Saturday, the squad ran into a juggernaut in undefeated Pittsford-Mendon of Section VI. The Lancers historic season came to a close with an 87-55 loss in the Far West Regionals.

Collins, Ortt seek answers on IJC nominees

Republican New York State Sen. Rob Ortt is calling for the U.S. Senate to confirm U.S. International Joint Committee nominees. Likewise, GOP U.S. Rep. Chris Collins has led a letter calling on the U.S. Senate to approve President Donald Trump's nominees to the IJC, which oversees all waters between the U.S. and Canada. Currently, the IJC is "in limbo," Collins' camp said, because it only has two of its six commissioners in office. A quorum of four is necessary to conduct business.
